Residence permit as a start-up
IND residence purpose for starting an innovative business in the Netherlands. You must work with a reliable facilitator under a signed contract, play an active role (not just shareholder), register with the Chamber of Commerce (KvK), and meet income/subsistence requirements for up to one year. Prove enough money for your stay (max 1 year) via Dutch bank statement, authorised PO-box account, notary third-party account, or facilitator financing. Verify current IND income amounts on the official page.

Eligibility
- Meet general IND admission requirements
- Signed contract with a reliable facilitator (RVO list)
- Company is innovative (new to NL, new technology, or new organising model β see RVO)
- You play an active part in the organisation (more than shareholder/financier)
- Step-by-step plan assessed by RVO (structure, roles, legal form, goals, innovation, planning)
- You and the facilitator are registered in the KvK Trade Register
- Income / subsistence requirements for the stay are met

If approved from abroad: MVV sticker, travel, collect residence permit (max 1 year).
Family
Family members may apply under related IND family rules β confirm whether they can accompany on the same timeline and what income evidence is needed.
Work rights
Permit text typically states work as an employee only with a TWV work permit. The purpose is running the start-up; employee side-jobs are restricted.
Route to PR
The start-up permit itself is temporary (max 1 year) and cannot be extended. Permanent residence is pursued later after qualifying years on other permits (often self-employed or other work). Verify IND permanent residence rules.
Route to citizenship
Dutch naturalisation generally requires longer continuous residence, civic integration, and language. Confirm dual nationality implications for Pakistani citizens.
